I’m starting a Youtube channel

As some of you might probably be aware, I’m currently rethinking my business model and am spending more time developing my different digital channels. As from the 6th of May, I officially have a YouTube channel!

wish me good luck!

I must admit that I have been more than reluctant to join the party, because I’ve always associated filming and editing with work. You might not be aware of this, but not only do I have a MA in French Literature, but I also have a MA in multimedia communications and filming, editing and script writing was part of the curriculum. Also, several of my first working experiences have actually been with media - I’ve worked at several Tv editorial teams as a journalist and scriptwriting and editing was part of the job. I changed both type of work and industry since then but the association of editing video material and work stayed with me. For this reason, I initially didn’t want to “taint”, let’s say, my creative work and everything related to my art with this kind of associations.

But now it’s been a year that I launched the gallery and I must surrender to the realization that it will be very difficult for me continuing doing what I do and sharing my art with you guys if it doesn’t get to be seen. Alas, the ever changeling landscape of digital is continuously moving away from still images towards video. “Video is king” we now hear at every corner of the world wide web. Reels, Youtube videos, Shorts, TikTok’s… - I’m sure that at this point I’m not even giving you the whole list and surely new video-centered platforms must have arisen in the time I’m writing this blog post.

Now, old fashioned souls like myself can linger in the past and continue making it all work with tools that become increasingly out of date (how ironic that I’m still writing this blog post though…), but when does this attitude stop being old-fashioned and starts becoming just old?

So, instead of tilting at windmills, I’m going to embrace the change. Will I continue this blog and “classic” photography on Instagram ? Of course. But will I invest more effort into other channels that enjoy the favor of the audience today - absolutely. My art gallery is my baby and I will sweat and bleed to see it grow and prosper - in order to do so, I will diversify in the near future.

And this is what I ask of you - if you like my paintings and lino prints, if you want to help me have the luxury of being able to continue this adventure, please support me in this endeavor - follow me on my Youtube channel, engage and share your thoughts with me, help me deliver you the content that will truly be helpful and interesting for you. And please be indulgent - I’m still fairly new to this and will probably need time to adapt in my productions.

Thank you so much for your support, please bear with me - I promise there will be some new creations in the gallery as well. I’m actually working on a new series and I will share some of the process soon.

I hope you have a glorious sunny Sunday!
