Fairy Pools

The Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, are such a special place for me. This is where you can feel all of the Scottish folklore come to life. At the foot of the Black Cuillins, the River Brittle creates the most beautiful pools of crystal clear blue water. With this painting I wanted to focus on the luminous mystery of this place that seems to have come straight out of a Scottish folktale. I chose bright colours to set against earthy, muted tones to accentuate the attention on the mountain and the water. I wanted to give a feeling of a holy mountain and a magic well.
